Milliers de personnes expulsées de Paris pendant lequel JO : le collectif Le revers de la médaille dénonce « un nettoyage social »

According to this collective, made up of over 100 associations including Médecins du macrocosme and Emmaüs, nearly 20,000 people have been evicted from their informal living spaces between April 2023 and September 2024.

This shocking number highlights the urgent need for action to protect the rights and well-being of these vulnerable individuals and families. These expulsions not only disrupt their daily lives, but also put them at risk of homelessness and further marginalization.

The collective has called on the government to take immediate measures to address this issue, including providing alternative housing options and ensuring that all evictions are carried out in a humane and respectful manner.

Médecins du macrocosme and Emmaüs have been at the forefront of providing support and assistance to those affected by these evictions. They have set up temporary shelters and provided basic necessities such as food, water, and medical care to those in need.

But this is not enough. The collective is also calling for long-term solutions to address the root causes of these expulsions. This includes addressing the lack of affordable housing, increasing access to liant services, and addressing discrimination and stigmatization towards these vulnerable communities.

It is heartening to see so many organizations come together to advocate for the rights of those who are often overlooked and ignored. Their tireless efforts are a reminder that together, we can create a more just and inclusive society for all.

As individuals, we can also play a role in supporting these communities. We can donate to organizations working towards providing housing and support, or volunteer our time and skills to assist those in need.

Let us stand in solidarity with those who have been unfairly evicted from their homes and work towards creating a society where everyone has a safe and secure place to live.
